Important Message from the Chief Procurement Officer

On March 16, 2020, State Purchasing Officers and other procurement professionals in this office began working remotely in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The health and safety of our employees and communities is our top priority. But social distancing does not mean disconnection. To the contrary, we are performing our procurement services and responsibilities to the fullest.

Staff are readily available and completely connected via cell phones, email, BidBuy, and the IL Procurement Gateway. When you have questions, please contact your SPO or call our main line at 217.622.1857.

We continue to closely monitor the situation, and will provide updates as necessary.

The Role of the SPO

The State Purchasing Officer exercises the Chief Procurement Officer’s procurement authority at the agency level.

The SPO is an employee of the EEC and appointed by the CPO, thereby achieving independence from the agency to which he or she is assigned.
