Employee Spotlight - Caleb Adams

January’s spotlight is on Caleb Adams. Caleb is a procurement specialist in the CPO office and has been in that position for a little over a year. Prior to that, he worked in the EEC Administrative Office in Legal and Human Resources. Caleb has worked in State government for a total of almost 7 years.

What is one important skill you feel every person should have?

Listening (especially listening to understand instead of listening to respond).

Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at:

Writing and encouraging

What is the best vacation you’ve ever had and why?

In 2016 my family and I had the chance to road trip through the 5 National Parks (Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion) in southern Utah. The scenery was unbelievable, and I loved spending that much time with my family (over 2,500 miles in a minivan). Furthermore, climbing the mile-high rock precipice in Zion National Park called "Angel's Landing" was one of the scariest, most exhilarating, most difficult, most awe-inspiring things I've ever done.

What is one of the things on your bucket list?

There are 54 mountains in Colorado that are at least 14,000' tall, and it's one of my life goals to climb them all. I started climbing the easier ones with my dad when I was 15, and since then have introduced several friends to mountain climbing as well. This past summer I reached the halfway point: 27 down, 27 to go.

Have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, which one?

I've not had much formal training, but I still enjoy playing (at a self-taught level) the piano, guitar, and cello.
