Employee Spotlight - Constance Ratliff
May's spotlight is on Constance Ratliff. Constance is a State Purchasing Officer assigned to Western Illinois University, Eastern Illinois University, and Illinois State University and has worked for the Chief Procurement Office for seven years. Prior to that, she worked for Consolidated Communications and Boeing. Constance has worked for the State of Illinois for seven years.
Tell us something about yourself most of us don't know.
My dad was in the Marine Corps, so we moved around until I was in 6th grade.
What was your first job or your most unusual job?
1st job was detassling corn. But one unusual job is that I worked 2 weeks at an onion ring factory. Yuck! Luckily I got laid off. My boss at the IGA grocery store rehired me as a cashier.
What are your five favorite foods?
Dr. Pepper, Pizza, Ham, Spaghetti, Garden Tomatoes
What is the most interesting vacation you've had, and why?
When I was 14 I went on a 2 week camping trip with 5 other girls (and a chaperone couple) to Wyoming and South Dakota. We pitched a tent every night, drank water from streams, etc. We went white what rafting, and it was very different from "Glamping."
What is one of the things on your bucket list?
I have traveled quite a bit for work, but I would like to spend time in New England and see NYC. One of my best friends is moving to Malibu, California this summer so I hope to visit.
Tell us about your pets.
My Miniature Pinscher Booboo is my best friend. His buddy is Oslin – a Siamese – and I also have a white cat named Casper.
What is the last book you read?
"Disturbed" by Jennifer Jaynes. I read all kinds of mysteries and thrillers.
