Employee Spotlight - Keely Burton

November's spotlight is on Keely Burton. Keely is the Procurement Services Administrator and has worked for the Executive Ethics Commission for 8 years. Prior to joining the Chief Procurement Office for Higher Education, she worked for the Executive Ethics Commission's Administrative Office. Keely has worked in public procurement (in separate stints) for over 3 years combined and has worked in State Government for almost 11 years.

Tell us something about yourself most of us don't know:

I enjoy eating Skippy reduced fat peanut butter (out of the jar, with a knife) and drinking Pepsi at the same time.

What was your first job or your most unusual job?

My first job was working at Parkway Pointe 8 Movie Theatre in Springfield.

What are your five favorite foods?

Pepsi (I consider it a food since I have it every day for breakfast); Skippy reduced fat peanut butter; Butterburger from Culver's; Pasta House salad; vanilla custard with cookie dough

Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at:

Soccer and sleeping

What is the best perk you've had at a job?

Flex schedule

What is the best vacation you've ever had, and why?

My yearly family summer vacation to the Ozarks is by far the best! As of this August, this will be my 35th summer going.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being a mother to my 9 year old daughter, Emma

What is one important skill every person should have?

Communicating both clearly and effectively

What is one of the things on your bucket list?

If I had an actual bucket list, the top item on the list would be to move to the southern tip of Florida where it is warm year round.

If you could have dinner with someone who is alive or dead, who would it be and why?

I would have dinner with my Mom & Grandma Rupert. They were my best friends and two people I could always count on.

Tell us about your pets:

Do my daughter's stuffed animal pigs count? (Piggy, Puah, Tiny, Sleepy P & Mr. P) Otherwise, I have a white cat, Snowball, who is approximately 16 years old and lives at my Step-Dad's house.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A "checker-outer" at Walmart because they were always BUSY!

What is your favorite season (winter, spring, summer, or fall), and why?

I am all for having summer year round. I hate being cold.
